The official Facebook page of the Ojén Town Hall contains lots of useful up-to-date information.
Marbellla Town Hall have started to renew various sections of the Avenida de España (the road from Elviria to La Mairena) to improve the safety of the road.
The councillor responsible, Diego López, said that it is one of the most important and busiest roads in the area, along which each day pass more than 15 buses and numerous families with children in the colleges, in addition to owners and residents, which makes it a very necessary project.
He stated that the work, which he estimates will take 3 months, will be centred on the reform of the pavements on three sections of the road, the eliminatiom of the lumps caused by the roots of the trees, the reduction in slippiness of the surface and the installation of protective barriers.
He clarified that the works would be carried out between the roundabout at the bottom of the hill, and La Mairena, because there are 3 sections that have the pavement in very bad condition, one of 82,5 square meters at the south, one of 84 square meters in the north and another in between of 37.5 square meters, so that in total they will construct more than 200 square meters of new surface for pedestrians.
He also explained that the roots of the trees have produced bumps and lumps in the tarmac which are a danger to the secure passage of vehicles, so the objective is to clear these roots, then repair the surface in 7 places with a total area of 230 square meters, and with the intention to do the same in more areas in future.
The councillor explained that the work will also improve the adhesion of the surface in 5 sections of the road, with a total area of 7.500 square meters, by installing a micro grooved surface which will be especially effective on humid and rainy days, and they will also install protective crash barriers to increase the security.
There have been numerous complaints about dogs loose in the streets of La Mairena and several reports of them attacking pedestrians.
The head of the PSOE political party has filed an official complaint with the mayor of Ojén demanding that measures be taken to remove this danger and allow pedestrians to walk in safety.
Here are links to the formal document and the official register of the submission of the document.
Here is a translation of the formal document:

The Mayor makes it known:
The Junta de Andalucía has declared a situation of serious and exceptional water scarcity in the Western Costa del Sol System to which Ojén belongs, indicating that. In this scenario, water-saving plans will be activated with the objective of achieving at least a 20% reduction in urban supply (BOJA number 208 of October 30, 2023).

We are lucky in having a wide variety of excellent restaurants nearby. When I visit a restaurant and find it to be good, I add it to this list.
Ojén is a very lively place and we are lucky to be part of a town with so many cultural activities. Here are some examples.
