What have we achieved so far?
The track from La Mairena to Ojén is excellent for walking through beautiful scenery. But it can also be driven, with care in a car with good ground clearance. I have driven it several times in my Skoda Fabia. The Ojén Town Hall improved it in 2022 but being a dirt track it deteriortes a little in heavy rain. Ojén Town Hall would like to concrete it completely, some sections are alredy concrete, and permission is being sought from the relevant authorities.
I drove along the track on Saturday 20 August 2022 to see the condition before work started and I took a video of the drive. It took 35 minutes and in places the condition of the surface was very bad. The mayor informed me that work had started and would probably take about 2 weeks. The result would be a surface that a normal car could drive on with care but probably not suitable for cars with low ground clearance. The video of my drive on 20 August 22 can be downloaded from this link.
I drove along the path at the end of February 2023 and found that some of the worst part were much improved but there were still some very uneven sections caused by the hevy rain in February. It took 35 minutes to drive from the German College to the cetre of Ojén.
The path can be seen on this link. The green sections are aleady concrete, the orange sections are a track in fairly good condition and the red section is a bad surface.
